Monel K500 alloy is a Ni-Cu based alloy, by adding a small amount of Al, Ti elements precipitation precipitation precipitation Ni3 ( Al, Ti ) phase, it retains the excellent corrosion resistance of Monel 400 alloy, but at the same time due to the precipitation reinforcement of high-strength, is widely used in petroleum, chemical, atomic energy and other industrial fields.
By adding elements such as Al and Ti to the Ni-Cu matrix, a malleable precipitation-hardening Monel K500 alloy is produced, which shows excellent corrosion resistance in seawater, acids, alkalis, and salt environments, and at the same time has room-temperature strength and hardness comparable to Ni-Cr-based alloys and precipitation-hardening low-alloyed steels, with toughness and plasticity even at low temperatures as low as -25K, and retaining strength up to temperatures as high as 920K, which makes the alloy particularly suited to the production of shafts for electric submersible pumps used for oil production in the field.
Monel K500 trace element addition on high temperature plasticity effect
(1) The addition of trace Mg to Monel K-500 alloy can improve the bonding force at grain boundaries and improve the high temperature plasticity.
(2) The high-temperature plasticity of the experimental alloy with the addition of trace elements of Mg, Cr and Co is significantly improved, and it shows a certain degree of superplasticity, with a strain rate sensitivity index m of 0.32 at 1010 degree and a maximum elongation of 240%.
(3) Calculations using the fracture function theory of impurity elements in the grain-boundary bias show that Mg, Cr and Co have the effect of improving the grain-boundary bonding force of Ni-Cu alloys, and thus can improve the high-temperature plasticity of Monel K-500 alloy.
(4) The deformation activation energy during superplastic deformation is low, and the process may be controlled by diffusion.
